I'm new to this forum. Just checking in. I'm 76, but still love good photos. I would like to keep up with the latest great photos, equipment and tips. Thinking about buying a Sigma 100-600 AF/AS lens for a Nikon D90 for nature photography. Any advice?

Can you hold it steady at 600mm? I'm 69 and need a tripod for my 150-500mm telephoto zoom. You might want to try a 100-400mm-ish lens first if you have never used a really long lens before. It is a far cry from a 50mm prime. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. Best advice I can give you about new or even used equipment, if it is something you want and can utilize for your gear and it is affordable to you, go for it. If it is not, don't. It's all personal choice.

Welcome. Post and have fun. Long telephotos are fun but not easy to hand-hold.

Welcome to UHH Mike, glad you joined us. As already stated long zooms are hard to hand hold steady, if you have a problem try a tripod.
