Walking Without My Friend...

We made our way to get a new pup. Before I could get to the litter to choose, one of them decided to walk over to me and sit right between my feet. Clearly he was telling me that he was the one. From the start he was comfortable with anything and anyone around him. No matter what the situation, it was his pleasure and he made it ours. He loved strangers and playmates of all kinds - even taking selfies with them. You could hide his toys anywhere and he had an amazing sense to find them. He was a gentle soul who enriched our hearts for nearly 14 years. Brady surrendered to a medical condition he endured for a couple of years without ever showing an ounce of complaint. Some days its tough to walk without him by my side, but no sympathy is needed because he left us with too much joy. Instead, give your pets the unconditional love they give you for as long as you are so blessed.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our beloved Milo and Charlie some time ago. It's hard not have them in our lives

That is a wonderful tribute to a special and handsome dog. He looks like he had a lot of soul.

What a touching memorial. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I know how hard it is to lose a furry friend, and I'm sure Brady would want you to find a new friend.

Let me add our sense of your loss of Brady and how the death of a dog hurts big time. Dogs are the most precious and special of animals and how we never fully get over their loss.

When I met my Jeannie, just before Christmas, 2007, she was rescuing dogs off the streets in San Carlos, Mx., and there were more than 20 around her. In 2010 we came through the US border with 16 dogs, much to the amusement of the local officer, who said he had never seen so many dogs. I had medical certificates for them all but we got waived through without the paperwork being inspected. Now, here in Merlin, we are down to just 3 of them.

Much appreciated, Mike. We've been positive-minded throughout the journey, but there are moments that just pull you into the cusp of emptiness. Thankfully, the memories are uplifting.

It's a taste what we have to adjust to, but with the comfort of knowing he rests in peaceful meadows. Thank you for such kind words, Barbara.

Than you, CCPhotoist. Heartwarming to hear your compassionate view. Another...may take a bit to consider, but you're probably right.
