Yesterday I posted The Humming Bird Party, but they had an uninvited gate crasher, and instantly all the Hummers were gone. I know this is a wood pecker, but not sure of the name.

Smudgey.
This is a Hairy Woodpecker that crashed the Hummingbird party.
I have seen other Woodpeckers do the same thing

Agree, Hairy Woodpecker. They have a long enough tongue that they can get nectar/sugar water from the feeder!

Thanks for the ID. I was quite surprised to see something that size hanging off the feeder.

Thanks, I thought it made an unusual picture anyway.

Nice set. I bet the hummers don't like him much.

He only stayed for about 5 minutes or so. He flue from the feeder to the tree and as soon as he was gone the Hummers were back. He did visit twice in three weeks. He was quite bold, didn't mind me setting there 10ft away shooting pictures.Paid little attention to me.

Your right, that was the surprise, I had been concentrating on shooting these little guys and all of a sudden I had this behemoth stretching across my viewfinder, completely unexpected for me, he didn't stay long. The Hummers didn't want anything to do with him.

Great pictures of your woodpecker, but upsetting that he startled the hummers. Glad they returned immediately.
