I usually just bring my camera and flash with a FlipIt bounce card. I have the camera in manual mode and the flash in TTL. I take my base exposure off the background and zero my in-camera meter at one stop under-exposed. That way the subject is the brightest thing in the photo and as you know your eye goes to the brightest thing in the photo.
Thanks for the tips. I’m researching flash attachments in an effort to find a versatile one that won’t break the bank. My old one died last winter and hasn’t been replaced. I miss it.
