I am finally done with processing all shots from 2022 except for a few days shooting locally at the end of December. For a short period every year we get a number of migratory ducks that stay at a small neighborhood pond. This provides some very nice shooting ops as the pond is small. Unfortunately the BGs are bad (fences, decorative boulders, etc) but one has to make do. This pond contains many crayfish, so the Hooded Mergansers come and fatten up for their trip north. This image was processed in PS, with bird slightly up and BG slightly down; a small piece of debris was cloned out on his chest. Otherwise little was done.
Shot with an R7, 100-500 at 500mm. SS 1/1000, ISO 2000, f/7.1. Handheld.
