Excellent Detail on 3/4 Moon

One of the est moon shots I have seen. Shot by close friend, permission to post.

Athlon Optics Spotting Scope, 20-60X, 800mm
Tripod mointed

The light dark boundary tells the moon's story of traumatic in coming strikes that would have hit the earth at a ancient time when the moon was looking the other way from it's now.

Excellent exposure and focus.

Never heard the moon was facing the other way. The moon was rotating and earth's gravity slowed it down and now it's locked to face us.

Nice shot. I find the pics of partial moons always show more detail.

Correct. It is caused by angle of sunlight causing shadows.

Frankly, the image lacks considerable sharpness, even in download. Could be atmospheric.

I haveseberly refuced vision, but crater sharpness is very pronounced to me.

Seems to me you answered yourself. If it was rotating then don’t you think it was facing away part of the time? And wouldn’t you agree that at those times it was likely to receive a lot of impacts?
