GOP Aid Comfort To Enemy

HOW: The Roberts Rules … Parliamentarian Procedures… can lock the senate by one man. The Military Promotions have been blocked by one man. “If the Senator provides notice privately to their party leadership of their intent (and the party leadership agrees), then the hold is known as a secret or anonymous hold. If the Senator objects on the Senate floor or the hold is publicly revealed, then the hold is more generally known as a Senatorial hold.”

Military Promotions: Republican “ Tuberville is waging an unprecedented campaign to try and change Pentagon a******n policy by holding up hundreds of military nominations and promotions, leaving key positions unfilled and raising concerns at the Pentagon about military readiness.”

Chemical Plants Vulnerable: Terrorists Welcome by Republican Rand Paul (Ky.): The Department of Homeland Security’s Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards expired at the end of Thursday 8/3/23. The House passed legislation (H.R. 4470) to renew the program, but a lone holdout—Republican Rand Paul (Ky.)—blocked fast-tracked consideration in Senate.

And for some reason you think this is news??? Politicians do this all the time to make a point which, BTW, ultimately gets resolved. Here's a fairly recent example of the left doing the same thing: Washington — Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth, a combat veteran from Illinois, announced Thursday she plans to block more than 1,100 military promotions until she receives confirmation from Defense Secretary Mark Esper that he will not block an expected promotion for the Army officer who was a key witness in President Trump's impeachment proceedings.

Being a Chemist, and dealing with industrial chemical plants, that is what I consider a significant news item. C&E News, Chemical and Engineering Weekly News Magazine, had a article about it last week. I did not reference that article because you need to be a member to read the magazine, instead I reference Bloomberg's article.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., announced Tuesday she is lifting her hold on senior military promotions after the Department of Defense confirmed the promotion Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a key witness in the impeachment of President Donald Trump earlier this year, wasn't blocked.

FrumCa, you gave no reference... generally only the lazy or those hiding information do not give reference. Your comment is a day before yesterday comment, "Day Late Dollar Short. The promotion of an officer had been blocked because he was a key witness against Disgraced/disqualified X-president Trump.

I'm not quite sure what you telling us (again) that you are a chemist has to do with this. Is it supposed to impress us or add credibility to your post? You claim to be an intelligent guy so I didn't see any need to give you a source. If anyone is being lazy it's you. If you question my source(s), it's very easy to do an internet search to confirm. Tammy Duckworth's hold was fairly common knowledge. In any case the reason for the hold is irrelevant. My point is/was that many politicians put a hold on things in order to further an agenda. Even you should have been able to understand that.

FramCa, You are having a difficult time reasoning clearly and having a negative attitude toward me in general. Answering your puzzlement: Being a chemist, ending as a Divisional Environmental - Health and Safety Manager means I have seen a lot and studied a lot of potential dangers. Reading your topics and replies, your negative about any thing having to do with the Democratic party. Before you ask, yes, I v**ed for Ike and Nixon I am an independent. I am not in favor of a f*****t dictatorship as Trump and his loyalists would have America be. But that has nothing to do with the Military or Anti-terrorist blockage. FrumCA, Are you in favor of terrorists? Would you partake in a subversive act in support of Trump by blowing up a plant or random shooting.

You are doing your best to demean the significance of the terrorists/chemical plants. Chemical plants are dangerous enough without outside help. Give a read:

I don’t have a negative attitude about you. In this exchange I just find it odd that you have this need to remind us that you are a chemist. Why is that? Are you trying to impress us with your credentials? It adds no substantive value to the conversation. I could tell you what my credentials are but I acknowledge that no one cares so I don’t bother nor do I feel any compulsion to do so. I do confess that you got me on my negative feelings about the Democrat party. If you take a close look at my comments, however, most of them are intended to provide an alternate view, the other side of the story if you will, to one-sided remarks from the left complaining about Republicans or anyone who opposes the progressive liberal policies of the Democrat party. With regard to your point about demeaning the significance of terrorists/chemical plants, I have to wonder how you come to that conclusion. The fact that I chose not to comment on any of the examples of congressional “holds” you offered is not evidence of me demeaning the significance Rand Paul’s hold. I saw it and the others only as examples of the point I made earlier about all politicians putting a hold on something in order to further an agenda.

Indeed, there is humor and unfortunately t***h in your statement Racmanaz.

Why speak of my credentials. Well, if I were commenting on car jacks and stated that i was a mechanic using them for a long time, that comment means more than some one who has never changed a tire. In the attic discussion, credentials and reference are important.

Too often those without science credentials are those who flunked 8th grade science and live resenting the well-employed nerd who passed it while they dig ditches in the hot sun. In general GOP people are less educated and anti-science. We have evolved beyond the cave man who grunts, the why of being educated. There was a great controversy expanding education from 8th grade to included for free 9-12. Other countries give free higher college or technical education to those who excelled... blocked in USA by the "conservative" [regressive go back] party.

My advice; don't try to argue with these clowns. You made your point, and your credentials provide justification for your concern. Just be glad that these i***ts don't have any control over policy, but be concerned that these i***ts may v**e for clowns that do.

Never v**e Republican again. That's my best advice.

jc is giving you good advice dp. Please take it. That way we won't have to continue to waste time responding to your left wing nonsense or his for that matter.
PS - "Holds" by their very nature are frustrating to both sides. Think of the old saying, "sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you". "Holds" aren't going away any time soon so contine to v**e for your clowns and we'll do the same.
