Two Different Cabbage Whites, Jumper and More

Yesterday was a very good day for photographing critters in my neighbor's ground cover. I was able to photograph two separate cabbage white butterflies, two different jumpers, a hornet/yellow jacket and a moth I am not familiar with.

Thanks Jack for the fine comment. I found it helpful that each of the cabbage whites was facing a different direction to help me keep straight which was which.

Nice ones! The jumping is a juvenile, but in the genus Phidippus. It might be one of the rather pretty species.
The wasp is the European paper wasp, which is an introduced species though now very widespread.

Thanks AGAIN Mark. You are definitely a wealth of knowledge in this department and I appreciate your comments.

How do you know the jumper is a juvenile? Every jumper I have ever seen is about the same size as this one. Is it that his little claws up front are not fully developed, something like that? Sorry for improper terms.

The yellow hornet/yellow jacket thing is a wasp? OK. All my life things that look like this one were to be somewhat feared and were always called a hornet or yellow jacket. I do see the thin waist similar to the thin waisted wasp. Is that a differentiating factor?

Thank you sippy. It is amazing to me that I can have trouble getting decent photos of something and then once I do get a decent photo the animals seem to know me and lighten up on giving me problems. I think they are starting to like me.

Thank you very much Sylvia. Glad you like the jumpers. They are little cuties.
