Arriving Southampton from New York 8/11/23
Didn’t know she was still cruising.
QM 1 is in Long Beach being refurbished and will remain as a floating hotel.
QM 2 has been in service since 2004 and is the only ocean liner in the world.
Evocative Portraits of one of my favourite ships.
I’ve been aboard a couple of times, including this transatlantic crossing.
First trip, stunning ship
Beautiful ship and photos; nostalgic look to them.
I had forgotten how high the superstructure was on the 'Queens'. Indeed, I had forgotten all of its history and had to look it up:
Queen Elizabeth 2 is a retired British ocean liner converted into a floating hotel. Originally built for the Cunard Line, the ship, the second one officially named Queen Elizabeth, was operated by Cunard as both a transatlantic liner and a cruise ship from 1969 to 2008. Wikipedia
Launched: September 20, 1967
Place built: Clydebank, United Kingdom
Construction started: July 5, 1965
Builder: John Brown & Company
Length: 963′
Capacity: 1,777 passengers
FYI. QM passenger capacity is 2,620, crew ratio to passengers ~ 2:1.

No wonder the service was reputed to be superb!
Absolutely, the ship oozes elegance. Great food, excellent on-board itinerary. By all accounts the sister ships (Victoria and Elizabeth, as well as the 2024 launch of the Queen Anne) are similarly high quality.
