Going through old boxes, I came upon a Fotodiox adapter that will allow me to use Exakta lenses on my K-3. The only Steinheil lens that I have with a working aperture is this Quinar 135/3.5. We had rain last night, and the morning light on the flowers seemed quite inviting. Looking over the picture, I quite enjoy the soft rendering of the background. While the lens is a 3.5, I notice that the blades do not retract past f4, but they are rounded enough as to be close enough to 3.5. Of the Steinheil lenses I have acquired, it seems a very common problem with them that the apertures stop working. All of mine are stuck at 2.8....excepting my ‘Exagon 35/2.8’, which got busted up last winter when I slipped on a patch of ice, and it slipped out of my hand and got damaged in the fall.
Nice. The adapters are the reason I purchased a Sony a6000 years ago. I wanted to be able to use my Exakta lenses. Most were Zeiss but I also had the 100mm Steinheil. New life to old lenses.
Nice result regardless of any problems.
That's a lovely image you took with that lens.
