My apologies for submitting a Smugmug set, but it's the only place where I have the entire set together. I posted a few of the images earlier, but just wanted to post the entire set now. If you see any that you think are particularly weak, and need removing, I'm open for suggestions, and critiques.

Wow, beautiful set. B&W is perfect for these shots and you present it well

Thank you for posting - great images! I recently went to a PBR event that was indoor and while I got shots of good action the lighting was so poor that the images did not turn out crisp.
Great Job.
Some fine images Spirit. Like your monochrome work.

Thank you. I won’t attend indoor rodeo’s or pow wow’s. Crappy lighting, and worse, no mood, or natural ambiance.
Thank you

I know what you are talking about. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Northeastern Arizona and rodeoed until I got out of college, calf roping, team roping and barrel racing (now a woman's sport) and broke many horses for me, our family and others as well as trained horses for cattle work and roping. I miss all that so when an event shows up I go even though the surroundings are far from ideal.
I do think though that I have photographed my last indoor event.
These are beautiful, love the close-in views.
That's a great set of photos! Congrats on some fine work. I especially like the in-close work.

Everyone is an excellent portrayal of the life of these people.
Back when I was a kid and even a few times in my mid twenties I attended a rodeo in NY state, near my home town. Never had the desire to try riding or participating in any rodeo events but enjoyed the action. I thought I had empathized with some of the falls and potential injuries the participants suffered. Until recently it was only thought. Recently I got a much better perspective on the toughness of rodeo riders when I ran into the rear of another vehicle while on my motorcycle. I did a face plant into the back of a SUV at about 25mph. Despite protective clothing and gear I still suffered some injuries, albeit relatively minor. Your photos very closely illustrated the moment before impact. The biggest difference, I was wearing a helmet and face shield, Your pics show these riders getting a face full of dirt without any barrier to protect them. Gives a whole new perspective to just how badass rodeo riders are.
Btw, excellent photos with great detail. One can almost feel the adrenaline pumping through the riders. Also, like the reality of the clothing and accessories necessary in the sport. Kudos to the photography and the rodeo participants.
