Well not really, UPS will deliver it tomorrow. For anyone wondering about turn around I sent it via UPS on 11-1. Total of twenty days, not bad especially if you factor in the problems Sandy caused them- the center is in Long Island, NY.
Think all of you current D600 owners and those waiting to find out how the "spots on the sensor" problems are worked out will be interested in what I have learned.
Nikon's Service Order, which was mailed to me after the camera was inspected, checked for warranty, etc, lists the problem as follows:
- CDC Cleaning
- Black Spots - Top to Bottom - Left Side
- To GWD (whatever that means?)
However, the really interesting part of the service order is where it describes the service rendered. It says: Moderate Repair, Major Parts Replaced. This certainly indicates more than a routine cleaning. I'm guessing the major parts replaced are the parts that were causing the dirt and/or oil.
Dirty sensor cleaned and major parts replaced- I'm a happy camper! All is well or will be tomorrow.
I'll let everyone know if there are any future dirty sensor problems.

Good news Db, I hope that's the end of your problems with it.
That would just irritate the daylights out of me; to have a new $2000+ full frame camera, use it for maybe 500 actuations and then it goes bad and not have it for twenty days. The VERY least they could do is to apologize for having fix what shouldn't have gone wrong in the first place.
But I'm glad you got it back in what really is a timely manner.
Now lets see what you can do with it!!
I'd be very curious on exactly what parts they replaced. It doesn't appear to be the sensor cause they cleaned it. Also curious as to what the acronym means.

I would also like to know the parts then we would know exactly what has been causing the problem. As for the acronym, I think it may be the department or repair station it was directed to (perhaps a techs initials?) for the specific repair(s) needed to fix the problem- just guessing

Does irritate me to no end. I agonized over sending it back but it was under warranty and I also thought It would help to build a solid case for a new one if it goes bad in the future. I have some additional comfort since they apparently replaced the parts that were defective.
Glad you are getting your back,

Lensrental found the cause of D600 sensor dust. A large gap around the shutter curtain on the left side through which dust is sucked into the sensor during the opening and closing of the shutter curtain:

Not sure. But I suppose Nikon will have to replace the entire shutter.
Hope your new toy arrives well and all your problems are solved.
Let us know because l'm interested due to the sameproblem on mine. Repair service did not fix it. Only cleaned sensor and after 20 acguatins the issue was there again.
Good luck with it, I am currently waiting for my third d600 to e shipped, hunts photo said they will send one when they get a new shipment in, I told them to wait at least a month. I would rather wait a little and get one from a batch that has no issues.
