Hi HH:

For the past few weeks, my Lightroom shuts down without backing up, when I put my computer (MacBook Pro) into "sleep" mode. I am using Monterey, 12.6.8 (up to date) and LR is updated and is 12.5.

I have not touched anything on the computer other than updating regularly. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is? I had a near-close panic attack the other day with a potential catalog problem as a result of this shutting done. I am backing up and doing chrono-syn once a day to avoid losing files.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas on what I can do? I've never had any issues over the years with using sleep mode so why now?

TIA for your help.

Your best bet is to leverage your subscription and contact Adobe directly, via the technical support chat option.

Check your catalog settings? Make sure it is set to back-up at the frequency you want & where you want. I had my back-up location change on me once from an external drive to a in computer drive. Just went to check after a back-up & seen it wasn't there. Checked the back-up location & sure enough. I know I didn't change the location which tells me someone has access to my computer other than me. But that's another topic.

Why not use "Time Machine". Auto backs up every hour at least. ?

I much prefer talking to them on the phone. Chat takes too long to wait for responses.

I have noticed the same or similar occurrence. If I leave LR open and put my Window's machine to sleep, randomly I sometimes have to relaunch LR the next day.

I always save any open files before I put my computer to sleep.

Your saying time machine will back up changes in Lightroom, before lightroom writes the changes. Wow, that's truly amazing....I gotta get something like that for my PC. All I can find are programs that back up data AFTER it has been written to disk.

It does backup every time, BUT NOT when the computer goes to sleep--LR simply shuts down.

You missed the point. Untill light room backs up the catalog, your backup program will not back up the back up. It will only back up the others.
