Daniel Craig in Lowe's

Daniel Craig (James Bond) was in the local Lowe's a while back, and he went to the self-service register to avoid dealing with a cashier who would recognize him. Unfortunately, the auto register didn't cooperate, so my son went to help him. He must have been relieved when my son didn't recognize him. When he left, the other workers came up to my son and told him who he had just assisted.

He has/had a home in this area and was occasionally seen at a local eatery. It's surprising the number of actors who have homes in this area. It's the country, but it's just two hours from NYC.

Funny story. I was in an Airstream trailer club years ago, and I was the president at one time. I would occasionally get email from headquarters telling me about new Airstream owners in our area. One new couple was Ethan Hawke and Ooma Thurman. Coincidentally, their picture was on the cover of People magazine at the time. At the next meeting, I told the group about new owners in the area, and I held up the People magazine to show them the picture of two people I wouldn't be contacting.

Perhaps it's not surprising to have celebrities in the area, for just the reason you say. They generally like some privacy like anyone else.

Jerry, do you still have an Airstream? There used to be an Airstream only travel trailer park in Melbourne, FLA that must have a hundred Airstreams - wonder if itโ€™s still there

It was hard to keep up to highway speed when I was pulling it with the Honda Fit, so I sold it.

Actually, we got to the point where we had done enough traveling and camping, and the people in our club were getting older for some reason. It got to the point where I had to become president of the club, or it wouild have folded. It was the same with the Gold Wing club - me or nothing. Now, both clubs are gone.

The Airstream club shot itself in the foot, and it kept doing so on a regular basis. White shirt, tie, and blue beret were the dress code for formal events. That's not what most people expect as camping attire. That might have been okay in 1955, but not today. The Airstream trailer and the club are both the product of Wally Byam. Over the years, the officers refused to change the name to The Airstream Club, preferring to keep the original name: Wally Byam Caravan Club International. It's not a Wally Byam Club, and it's not a caravan club. It's an outdated club run by and for old fuddy-duddies. The club also has a reputation of being full of snobs. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We sold it (1973, 31') to a local guy ten years ago. For a big trailer, it was very easy to pull and maneuver.

If any Airstreamers are reading this, no offense intended, but that's been my experience over the years.

I was in an elevator once, all alone with Roger Staubach. I didn't say a word to him. People deserve their privacy. Now if it had been Nicole Kidman it might have been totally different!!

I wonder if some camera clubs also have a "old fuddy-duddy" problem?

I wonder if sheโ€™s related to Uma Thurman, the actress.

If I was there, I would have given him his privacy because I would not have recognized him.

Well, Jerry, I suppose there had to be one person our age that wouldn't know him.

I know most sports people from the commercials they do since retirement.

Staubach made a lot of news in his day as the Heisman Trophy winner from the Naval Academy and then the Dallas Cowboys quarterback who went to several Superbowls and won two after he finished his time in the Navy. He and Bradshaw had quite a rivalry. Note: They'd have won a third if Jackie Smith hadn't dropped a game winning pass in the end zone. He's also known for the Hail Mary pass and may have been the best comeback quarterback ever.

So, is he doing commercials now?

No, he's making millions in real estate. Like I said, there had to be one person in the country who doesn't know who he is. BTW, do you know who Mickey Mantle was?
