Why won't my wireless remote control release the shutter on my Canon Rebel T7i ?

I have paired my Aodelan BR-E1A wireless remote with my Canon Rebel T7i, set the bluetooth function to REMOTE and set the camera to single-shot, 2/sec timer, however, the remote will not cause the shutter to release on my camera. WHY?

A common cause would be a flat battery in the remote.

I have canon bodies and for the remote to work I have to be standing in front of the camera with the remote pointed at the camera.

That's because it's an IR trigger.

I have an AODELAN Canon wireless remote control Model: BR-E1A. It uses Bluetooth which does not require line-of-sight to operate. You do not have to even point it at the camera. Thanks anyway!

The OP's remote uses bluetooth, and does not need line-of-sight to the camera like IR does.
