This is one capture I did the other day in one of my senior living facilities. This woman is 98, has Alzheimer, and is blind. I finally came away with this image for her granddaughter. I feel I just gave the best present in the world to the granddaughter. I cant think of what else I could do that would be more important or have more impact on another person life. I only wish I had something like this of my own Mom.
This image may not win a merit but it will grow in value.
It's funny that capturing a moment like this will probably give a person a smile for a lifetime.

A very touching photograph, kudos to you for a job well done and the thought you put into the image.
It's a lovely shot and it's lit beautifully.
One thing I have been trying to work on in my portrait work is the hands. I'm not trying to be critical, this is just my observation, the granddaughters hands could look a bit better with careful placement. Just my opinion :)
it will make the heart warm!
Wonderful shot of a pose that says it all - poignant mood and beauty in age - deeply moving! All enhanced by superb lighting.
I am impressed.
After over 50+ years in photography and thousands of making and viewing images, I must tell you that this is one of the very best Portraites I have seen. The Lighting, the posing, the attention to detail in composition are all wonderful, but the best part is the LOVE that you made evident between the Daughter and Mother.
Thank you for showing us and for demonstrating the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
Bruce, this is what I call "Timelock" imagery. If the 98 year-old grandmother could go back--just momentarily-- to the days before alzheimers and vision issues, she would undoubtedly say, "Oh, my gracious!" in a loving way.
A tastefully matted and framed version of this photo would be an eye-catcher above a graystone (faux)fireplace in the lobby of one of the elder care facilities you visit. It certainly would touch the hearts of others...a welcomed feeling for many who would gaze upon it.
