Still life with pepper

I ventured into the realm of still life photography. Not something I normally undertake. A large yellow pepper arrived in a box of other vegetables. It's odd shape seemed to demand I photograph it. I set up in my kitchen and had fun trying different angels.

I like still life photography and you got off to a great start. I like the crooked pepper, the lighting, compositions, sharp focus and the dark background. Good show, good job. BTW, what did you use for the dark background?

Thank you for your kind words. I used a black cloth for the background. I knew before using it I would need to darken the blacks to get what I wanted in PhotoShop. I used the Canon R7, with the RF-S18-150. Exposure was 1/80 @ F-5.0 ISO 400. All were taken hand held. The light was a combination of daylight coming through a window and a small LED light to help with the shadows. I did use the R5 with the same lens for a few of the photos.

I bought a piece of black velvet (2'x3') to use for backdrops like this. Does a better job of eliminating any light reflections and I keep it in plastic bag to keep it clean. I also take it when photographing flowers outdoors where velvet really adsorbs all the light.
