Wife and I have been on Republic Wireless for many years. Within the last week, we got informed that Republic Wireless will be no more ... it is being taken over by Boost Infinite. So, we elected to make the change, got 2 new SIMs and did the migration...fairly easy. The monthly charge on Boost is $25 which is about $2 more than we had been paying with Republic ... but it seems lower price than what the big guys charge. For that extra $2 we get unlimited data, which we didn't have previously with Republic, and if we had run out on our monthly data, Republic would have shut off data till next bill cycle, or we could buy extra data for $5. So, Boost price is not too bad. Boost uses the T-Mobile network which supports 5G. Our phones are now 4G so we get the slower 4G speed. We'll elect to keep our current phones till they break or wear out, and then go to 5G.

I had boost for 12 years. Loved it and it was Sprint at the time. When T-Mobile bought both I could call anyone but only received calls from my wife and son who were on different Carriers. That was actually fine with me. Lol. Then my son couldn't call anymore so we all switched to T-Mobile. 70 bucks a month for my wife and I with a free line for my son. Last 3 years have been great.

I live in rural VT and rely totally on wifi service at my home. So Republic Wireless was a perfect option. But since they became part of Dish it's been a whole different story. Biggest issue is with texting. All texting previously happened without a hitch over wifi. Now ALL group texts and any attachments need to use data over cellular service. If I don't happen to go to town AND remember to actively check for and download messages that came over MMS rather than SMS while in cellular range they expire. Or group texts with no attachments come in as individual messages which really jumbles up communication. Any insight on how Boost Infinite handles this?

The plan from Boost Infinite is $25.00/month/line for unlimited talk, text, and data. So it really doesn't matter with this plan if one's texts and attachments go over WiFi or data...however, I do believe that when at home or when connected to any WiFi, such will go over the WiFi. When the monthly data reaches 30 GB, you'll still be able to use unlimited data, but at a slower speed...until next month's billing cycle. That isn't an issue for me since I rarely (but occasionally) use over 1 GB of data anyway.
Regarding Group Texts, all appears to be working normally...ie...not coming as individual messages.
