Anyone have some experience with X4 Circular polarizer filters, I've come across a couple articles about them giving them great ratings. I've used Hoya Evo & NXT on my lenses and have been happy with the results, I've just purchased Canon RF24-70 2.8 with 82mm diameter and since I don't have any filters this size I was looking at the Hoyas's and came across articles, Pop Photo one that gave Breakthrough Filters top rating and they're priced around the same ($169-$189 range.

First rate. The newer series in red are very convenient. Thin enough not to vignette at 15mm. They work brilliantly on high end lenses.

Breakthrough filters are excellent, easily equivalent to top brands such as B&W. I use circular polarizer from both companies, ND filters from Breakthrough.

i've got 2 breakthrough nd filters. quite pleased w/them. they are "older"...i.e. screw on type of threads, not magnetic. good customer service too.

I've been using them (polarizer and NDs) for 4+ years, top notch filters. Worth the money.

I have two of their ND filters, one a 3 stop, another a 6 stop. Did have a color fidelity problem with the 3 stop and they replaced it at no charge.

I like my 82mm X4, especially how bright it is (high transmission), while still effectively polarizing my shots. If I want an ND, I'll put on an ND. No reason for a CPL to function as one.

My only complaint is it came with a note saying I have to register the filter to activate the warranty. That's hogwash, as this is not legally enforceable. Breakthrough is data-mining. I almost returned the filter because of this, but I like it so much more than my Hoya HD3, which is the next best alternative IMHO.

I have not used their ND filters yet. Just giving a recommendation for Breakthrough filters overall. I have used their filters now exclusively for years (except while traveling and I break one, then use whatever I can get until I get home) Their quality and build in unsurpassed. Customer service is outstanding and if I have ever had a question or issue, a phone call is usually answered by the owner of the company. Can't ask for more than that.

I use Breakthrough CPL filters interchangeably with B&W KSM HTC MRC CPL filters and cannot tell any difference in optical quality or light transmission, as both are superb. I use them all the time unless the light is really low. The Breakthrough is less expensive and seems to be a little more sturdy and turns a bit more stiffly, but really picking nits.

Breakthrough X4 CP build quality and optical characteristics are excellent. My 82mm version is first choice among several brands accumulated over the years.

Consider: Pop Photo, Popular-Photography magazine "The March/April 2017 issue was it's last" Things change in 6 years.
