Done using the mixer brush in Photoshop. Original reference picture is from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, background is a composite of five different layers. Thought I'd share.

Technically very nice. Artistically, this also hits the mark in my humble opinion. I think it is important to do more than just representation when using paintings or statues. In this case, you have significantly altered the background to make this a unique expression. I like it.

Thank You very much Erich, I appreciate your comments. I agree with placing paintings or statues in a background that adds to the overall composition rather than just doing a painting of a picture I took. I've been working with the mixer brush recently, attempting to get a grasp on it. Delighted you enjoyed it !!!

I’ve followed the same course as yourself with this technique Dave - but you’ve stuck with it longer than I managed, the training style was soooo boring! Great end result though so I guess I’ll return to it when the mood takes me again. At the moment I’m having one of those ‘artist’s block’ things! I really like the result you’ve achieved here, keep up the good work, it’s definitely encouraging.

Thank You Dave, using the mixer brush can be tedious at times, but this photo was on my short list of those I wanted to use it on. Pleased you found the result encouraging, your work, and your comments, have been an encouragement to me for some time. I did order a pen tablet to see if it will make things a little faster and more accurate for me. I know you'll break through the " block " soon, and I look forward to seeing your next project. Thanks Again !!!
