I love the HDR look but find that after using NIK software my pics are grequently grainy especially the skys. What am I doing wrong?
Are you taking your shots from a tri-pod, Camera shake can kill a shot.

I am, I think it has something to do with post processing.

HDR photos frequently are grainy, it's a common occurrence in every HDR software, but you should have an anti-grain smoothing feature to help eliminate it. You didn't say how many exposures you are using to create your HDR but less exposures combined creates less grain in the final product.
So if you're using 9 exposures 1EV apart, try 5 that are 2EV apart instead. If you're using 5 that are 2EV apart, try 3 that are 2EV apart. Not every HDR situation needs 9 exposures or even 5.
