Did you ever try to buy a replacement gas cap for a lawnmower? It ain't easy. A squirrel must have stolen the gas cap off my Craftsman mower over the winter, and no one locally has a replacement. Craftsman lists the part, but it's not available. Amazon has about dozen different gas caps for mowers. Really?! Is it necessary to have so many different designs for a gas cap? I'll keep looking, and then I'll make something. Maybe I'll have to buy a new mower.
If Apple starts making lawnmowers, I bet they won't sell parts - just new mowers. "Well, you know, for the cost of the part, plus certified installation, you'd be better off buying a new Apple iMower." 🤣

Check your local small engine repair shops...
I've never had that situation, but if you measure and find any cap that fits, even if it's a smidge too big. If too big you might wrap the male threads with ... I dunno, Teflon tape?
Find out who the maker of the engine is. Craftsman only uses engines from other manufacturers and relabels them. It may be a Honda, Briggs & Stratton, etc., and you could find a gas cap from them.
ACE and Lowes sells Craftsman brand. They may be able to locate one for you.

The M1 and M2 Apple mowers are fully integrated so you can’t replace parts.
Stuff a rag in the nozzle and you’re good to go👍
Duck tape fixes almost anything.
A cork or a rubber stopper from your local hardware store. Wide range of sizes.
