It will make more sense to you if you start this series with "The Jeepneys of the Philippines 1."
In this photo you can see tht Manila does have modern buildings.
And you can also see that there are lots of jeepneys in the city.
This owner wanted to keep that chrome look. Here you can compare it with a modern bus.
Most of these photos were taken while I was riding in one. You can see that this is one of them simply from the higher viewpoint.
Victims of Love
Have you had enough??
Almost at the end.
More chrome than most.
The next set will be one of the shops that build and repair them.
Many different shapes and sizes.

Cool. Thanks for all the images. Wow each Jeepney is different!
Thanks a lot for your nice words. Glad you liked the jeepneys.
All different yet close to being the same.

Like human faces ... all with two eyes, one nose, etc. pretty much all in the same positions on similarly shaped skulls. (Not counting exceptions to this, of course.)
Now??? Why did our yucky yellow school buses get repainted like these? We would have found joy in going to grade school not knowing which one our driver would get each morning. We would have talked about it each day. The new busses would be used for Sr high art classes graphedia.
The yellow is used for high visibility... ya... but how can you not see these Jeepneys busses.

They should do that here in the states!
I think they are truly unique! Great pix!
I didn't see any tassels on the windows. Maybe it was only on the ones in Olongapo city to drive the military personnel crazy after they were drunk. It also seems that the ones in Olongapo city were a bit shorter, of course this was in 82-83 and my memory is starting to fade a bit. The other thing I remember about the Philippines is that the drivers liked to play chicken with each other and I don't remember seeing a stop sign or a stop light in Olongapo.
