Just remember that if you keep an EF body that no RF lens will work on it so EF lens(s) must be retained.

Here is a slightly different perspective. The longer you wait to sell your 5D and EF lenses the less you will get for them. .....

But the longer he keeps them the more use and enjoyment he will get from them.

I made the switch a couple of years ago, right after the R5 became available. I have slowly moved to RF lens for the ones I use most often. They are a little lighter and it’s faster and easier to change lens in the field without having to deal with the adapter. For a few speciality lens that I use less frequently, I have no intention of spending the money to change. For me I didn’t notice a difference in the caliber of the pictures.

It is certainly a personal choice, I own a 5D4 & 1DsIII, Lots of lenses. I have not yet purchased an R body and will probably do so when they make an R5 II. Canon has done a great job with adapters that not only work, but can add a control ring to EF lenses. I suspect I will keep the EF lenses and perhaps add a few RF lenses over time.
Canon has made it easy to keep older lenses so I suspect I will.
I wouldn't rush into selling anything.

If you do use an adapter, my personal preference would be the polarizer rather than the control ring, the multi function button makes it very easy to change settings on the camera while that polarizer will work with any of your EF lenses. Because it does employ corrective glass I was weary of its effect on image quality and am happy to say I have not been able to detect any image loss using that particular adapter.

Not needing a polarizer, I was yonna buy the basic $99 adapter. $100 extra for the ring didnt seem necessary.

But then I noticed that the $100 had dropped to only $50 and for that much I went for it. While its not some absolute necessity its certainly proved to be $50 worth of convenience.

My message is that if one doesnt go for the polarizer, at least go for the ring. Wouldnt be surprising to see the basic plain adapter discontinued.
