I was born in 1947 and grew up on a Iowa farm. My siblings and I didn’t get to enjoy all the free time town kids did. I don’t remember Ozzie and Harriet ever joining us for a night of TV. Come to think of it, we only received CBS consistently. When did drive-in theaters modernize to tuning the movie in on your car radio? I only knew the stand speakers until the mid 60s. Our house wall telephone had a toggle to talk switch. It made gossiping and listening to other peoples’ conversations easy. I can remember my mother grumbling when she’d hear people on our party line conversing in Norwegian. But…. 50s and 60s music was the “best.”
