This lizard was not amused with me. I was on the Constellation Trail last evening and this guy crossed my path. The biggest I have seen, he crawled on top of my boot and then scurried off. I was in hot pursuit determined to get a decent shot. He made it very difficult climbing under brush and rocks. I was unable to get him to crack a smile, so we parted company.

It is know as a Horny Toad, Horny Toad Lizard, or Horned Lizard. The generic name is Phrynosoma which means toad bodied, but it is a reptile. I usually know nothing about what I take pictures, kind of how I live my life but I was curious. I always thought Horny Toad and Horned Lizard were two separate animals. It appears I haven't destroyed all my brain cells .... yet.

Earnest It's known by many names, Horny Toad Lizard, Horned Toad, Horned lizard. The Generic name Phrynosoma meaning toad bodied. But it is a reptile and an endangered species I knew none of this the day before yesterday but was schooled by a naturalist on another site and then looked it up.
