I've mentioned this before on this forum. When asking for an ID it would help if you would say where in the world you took the photo.

That said, I think your snake is a black racer.

I agree, black racer. A close up of the head makes it much easier to identify, but that's hard to do if the snake is alive.

Hi, please excuse me for saying this, but "Hepatologist" refers to a liver specialist, as "Hepar" means liver; "Herpetologist" is a snake aficionado and/or specialist.

A similar species is the indigo snake, but this one has faint markings.
The snake was harmless, btw.
