One beautiful, but not all that well know spot even to Oregonians is Painted Hills located in Central Oregon. The ideal time to photograph this unusual landscape is shortly after a rain and early in the morning. Early evening also works for certain location. This particular image was made close to mid-day or one of the least favorable times to photograph these hills.
The area has marked paths with boardwalks. It is important not to walk on the hills and damage the structures.

This is well composed. I like how the road leads my eye up to the colored hill and then across the photo. Excellent use of space!
