Help please - My Nikon D750 is not connecting to my iMac.
Neither the SD Card that plugs into the rear slot of the iMac or the Nikon connect cable that connects the two devices. I have rebooted the iMac but no difference.
I am probably doing something very stupid, or rather not doing something very obvious.
But your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I know it's very frustrating when you are trying to get something to work and it won't. I'm not a tech expert but after reading your post I was thinking that maybe your card is corrupt. I have never plugged any of my cameras into the computer via the cord so I can't help with that part of your problem.
Have your tried inserting an SD card into the slot on your Mac that you know is working? If it is and another try with the questionable card fails then it's probably your card. Do you have a separate card reader that you can try in case the problem is the card slot on the computer?
Is the second card in your camera set up as back up? Have you tried that card to see if it works on your Mac?
Whatever the problem I hope you get a solution soon.

Thank you, Dodie.
Both memory cards on my Nikon do not link up. Indeed, I am having trouble in finding any memory card that works so I think it is a problem with my iMac. I do not own a card reader.
I am going to pursue getting my iMac tested and repaired if a fault is found.
Thank you, again.

Bill, and Dodie, I restarted my Mac (not the first time) but it worked. I can now see my camera's memory card!!
But, Bill, I will look at that link now just in case the fault reappears.
Thank you!
Just a postscript. Most of the time I use ProtonVPN which I log on to first of all. The Proton range is here:
https://proton.me/When I got my card reader to link up to my Nikon memory card I was not logged on to ProtonVPN.
Just wondered if that was the cause?

Thanks for the update. A little good news is always welcome.

Several things to check:
If you are connecting the cable, is the camera menu set to the printing mode, or the computer mode? Consult your manual. Most cameras have a switch to flip between a protocol for a directly attached printer and protocols for computers.
Is the SD card compatible with the reader in your iMac? (i.e.; did you buy a 64 GB card recently?) Older Macs like my 2010 mini and 2013 iMac do not support SDXC cards formatted as ExFAT. This is solvable by buying a new card reader that supports all the latest SD card formats.
Do other cards of the same type, formatted in the same camera body, read in your iMac? If so, suspect a bad card.

Bill, I’m glad it is working but it won’t stop me from trying to find the cause.

That is a very useful set of technical guidelines. Thank you.

Have you tried another computer?

I only have an iPad in addition. Guess I could ask a neighbour.
