I took this set with the A1 and the 100 - 400 lens and no tc. The wind was light. I think that this combination will be my future bee hunting set up, but I want to try once more with the 85mm to be sure.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks, Joe, "Bombus rufocinctus" (red banded bee) according to StanMac.

Nothing wrong with these, Mike! I have started to enjoy "macro" with my 200~500 Nikon. A lot more working distance for active insects! I think your 100~400 will continue to be a good choice. I've thought about using an extension tube with my lens, but haven't been able to find mine. Maybe in storage!

Thanks, Chief, I did another run with my 85mm, but the result required significant cropping.

Best bee set so far, Mike. I'll wait for the next 85mm set, though.

Nice Mike, new bee for me. I've been meaning to try my Canon 100-400L for bees and butterflies but haven't gotten to it yet.
