Ice Cream. The Prices, they are Rising!
I used to buy Stweart's ice cream on sale for $3.29 for a full half gallon. Now, it's $3.99 on sale. The local supermarket, Hannaford, had a smaller three-pint package for $2.23 on sale for weeks. Then it went up to its regular $2.48, still a good deal. Now, the Hannaford ice cream is $2.99, the same price per pint as Stewart's, so I'll switch back. Their location is slightly more convenient, and they sell a four-pint container.

Inflation is lower than in a long time. Greed continues, however.
Inflation is the lowest it's been in the last 2 1/2 years, but higher than it has been in decades.
My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell - here in Kentucky, it's up to 8-9 bucks per gallon. Kroger is offering special financing.
It is common for plain store brand to be quite good, according to sources like Consumers' Reports.
But there are lots of articles about how ice cream sales have been declining. The younger folks just are not attached to it.

When the local supermarket was selling it for $2.23 and $2.48, there was often very little available. Since it was selling so well, they thought they could raise the price. They lost me as a customer, though. I'd rather buy four pints from Stewart's than three pints from Hannaford. I would finish a container within a day. I'll just buy less now.

If you really want to save $, you must calculate ALL costs. Based on your “ I would finish a container within a day.” you need to include the costs of regular increases in clothing sizes.
I can't eat much ice cream.
That hasn't happened yet.
I love Stewart's Ice Cream! Black Cherry is the best! I always get some when visiting Massachusetts or going back home to upstate NY. They don't have Stewart's store in Connecticut :(

Mounds of Coconut is my favorite. It's nice when every flavor is on sale.

Occasionally I buy 1/2 gallon at my local grocery store, but when I want the best, I go here for home made ice cream. It's about 10 minutes away, with unbelievable flavors. Yes, it's expensive.
Gabrielle's Fountain, Martinsville, NJ.
Yum!!
