IA Processing

I meditated some time if this post goes into the Main section or the AI artistry section.

Edit: the caption should read "AI processing"... Spanish betrayed me.

And - before the flak begins - I decided to post it here because:

a) The procedure I'm pretending to show starts with an actual photo I shot.
b) I believe it is a (a kind) of PP, in which I used that original photo to create something new
c) I din'd create it "just using AI prompt" but made the actual workflow... plus some coding.
d) It is interesting that the original photo is of lower resolution than the processed one, and
e) Shows the (upcoming) uses of AI for actual photographers.

In the first example, I took a simple beach sunset and made a new landscape out of it.
Images:
1) Actual photo taken with a *cheap* Chinese phone
2) AI process of the same image.

Please note that I can make the processed image as close as I want to the original,( so I can perform noise reduction, upscaling, etc.) or as different as I want.

On the second example, I took a night photo of a path, near home, and made a more extreme conversion to give it a magical look
The first image is the original, and the others are the AI interpretation of it.

The last image shows the workflow I created for that.

Now, lets the flak begin

No flak from me. My feeling is that AI tools provide more post processing options.

What is the software or app you used? Thanks.

I like your final results. I also realized that the person operating the AI assisted software needs to have an imagination to create these types of results. I'm, sadly, left out in the cold on the creative side of photography and graphic art. Keep up the great work. I look forward to more innovations!

I have mixed emotions abot this. I agree that the "resulting Image" is dramatic and good looking (the coast scene) but I wonder if you can still call it a photograph. And I also wonder if it matters what you call it. I'm a bit of a purist so I would not call it a photograph, I think a new name for that kind of image needs to be created. I can see that a lot of opinions has just been challenged!

The first one is absolutely beautiful but well beyond the limits of my imagination and AI skills. I call my crude attempts at ASI generated pictures "Pictures" and my camera shots "Photographs."

I don't think there'll be much flak; most here have already agreed AI is simply another form of post processing which has been around since the first photographs were manipulated in the developing room. If there's any controversy, it's whether or not to call them photographs, images, art forms, etc. It's the problem my wife faces when her art association holds and art show and someone submits some wild AI creation (that started as a photograph) with the "regular" photograph submissions.

I feel that the operative word here.
We are all ultimately creating IMAGES. How we achieve our objective is the intersection of ART 🎨 and Technology.
The ORIGINAL Camera [Obescura]
involved drawing/painting the target image. Was that art or photography?
We keep moving forward with more sophisticated tools 🔧 [Technology] but our ultimate objective is STILL an IMAGE

It's not just another tool. When you can add, remove items, subject, backgrounds, etc, it's no a photography. A CGI (computer generated image) is exactly that. An artificially created image.

I think calling it an AI creation works, I agree that a photograph is a photograph pretty much. A silver print is NOT a giclee and all. We all modify our images using the darkroom or PS... some use software programs to assist and speed things up. It is a new category imo, not in my wheelhouse skill level thus far.

Hey, thank you for the positive feedback!

The software I'm using is really bleeding-edge, it is ComfyUI, which - in turn - is a front end for Stable Diffusion. It is only 4 months old, which redefines the "beta software" concept. Both are installed on my server. Also the models reside on my server.

You can download it from here: https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI. It is written in Python, so it runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Beware:
1) it is open source, it belongs to the community, no support whatsoever. If you hit bugs, fix them yourself. If you want new features, code them
2) some basic coding skills are required
3) no manuals, no documentation of any kind. Watch the videos, read the forums, analyse the source code, try and break.

BTW, here goes another output.

Drawing/painting with a camera obscura is not photography because photography is defined as using the action of light on a light sensitive material to make an image.

It is no longer a photograph. It's a computer generated image, which is fine. But it should be specified as that when posting.
