Photo is an 8 shot vertical pano, with a nifty 50 and a 45 megapixel camera using a tripod. Also would like to print it, and would appreciate opinions on the best way to print (i.e., paper, canvas, or aluminum), and at what DPI. Thanks

No part of the image appears to be in focus. Topaz Sharpen can help some, but if you print it, it would be best to take the shot again and ensure the focus is correct from the camera. I would add a little more of the photo at the top to clear the ridge and perhaps a bit at the bottom to see a bit more of the pond.

Thanks, but unfortunately there's no retake at this point in time.

It's soft (out of focus). Great composition, though.

I did some testing with Topaz Sharpen and it did a fairly good job, but if you use Topaz, play with the settings some to see if you can improve on it. It is a nice image so good luck with the printing. I have nothing to suggest about how best to print, except to say that a canvas print might help reduce the negative impacts of the focus issue...after Topaz.

Thanks I guess I should have taken more time. At the time I thought it looked OK.

Nice capture indeed !! Do you have an editing software program you can use to brighten it up a notch or two and add some contrast? Can you edit the person in the red top on the bridge out (some would see her as a distraction) or do you like her in the image? Did you shoot this in camera raw? Where you display the image can be a deciding factor in how to display it. Ie., canvass works well in a brightly lit office.

Hey Chief! Yes I have the RAW files plus the pano as a TIFF, and 2 different programs to edit it with, and I will try again with both programs when I get back home to the 'burg to see which one I like best. I will work on editing out the red person. If .successful I will post the edit. Will be displayed at home.

I am familiar with this scene and remember that because of the location and geography, it's in shadow most of the time. Illinois is a long way from western Oregon, so I'd ask if you have one more shot that could go at the top of the stack. The bottom is problematic...it's just not a particularly attractive area. Lots of people and parking lot and walkways. I'd leave it as it is. The footbridge should look a lot more prominent. See about bringing up the midtones to fix that, then brighten the overall image. But...check the sky...there's not too far that you can go with the highlights.

If you ever return, I'd suggest shooting from the edge of the lower pool or close to it. Be sure to focus on the bridge, not the hillside. But don't use a really wide lens. It will cause problems with perspective of the upper falls. You had good instincts to use 50mm for your shots.

You might experiment with sharpening, but measure your optimism. A print 10 or 11 inches high might look ok. Maybe even a little more. But I would suggest a test print at your target size before committing to a high dollar print.

Nice image. I suggest a little more breathing room on the crop -- especially at the top.

I modified it a bit to make it sharper and brighter. My image is 22mb and looks sharp, even when zoomed way in. (The only blur is from the person in red moving, and a few of the leaves blowing in the wind. You must have had a very slow shutter speed.)
Don't know how to send it to you, though. You must have really wanted a big blow up to stitch 8 high-res photos together. What was your plan, 4x6 feet?
