Wife & I went to a local flea-market this morning for a look around. I found a like-new f2.8 28mm Starblitz AUTO MACRO MC lens. After some hesitation and some discussion I purchased it for $15. I can't find much info about this lens so I'm looking to the hedgehog community for any available knowledge. I believe it has a PK mount so I can easily fit it to my mirrorless camera if it is worth the effort & price of an adapter. Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I vaguely remember seeing a Starblitz Flash. It seems this lens was made for a long time as I found a sale for a K-mount one one eBay for $29.99. It looks like it is equivalent to a Pentax K-Series or M-Series lens having a 52mm filter diameter. There are obviously no electronic contacts. It would have been made for a manual film camera. It probably would fit and work on a Sears camera as well as Pentax. The K-Mart -- Sears connection for the Starblitz makes sense too.

But what a strange focal length for a Macro lens, 28mm! Really short. That is shorter than a short 35mm Macro lens for a APS-C Digital Camera! On a full frame or film camera a 28mm is a wide-angle lens. I am almost tempted to buy one used and cheap on eBay to see what it does. Since I own Pentax cameras it would not as rapidly prove to be a paperweight. I already have a number of off-brand telephoto lenses. But only one WA, a Vivitar 19mm f/3.8 K-mount lens.

Used lenses can be a bargain or trash...like anything else.

If shopping in person for used lenses...bring a small bright tight light with you.

In my experience of looking at used lenses...especially the 'off brands'...ppl don't treat them as well.

The person who buys that lens new is already trying to get a shortcut...and they usually treat their gear the very same way.

You can find dog lenses that are very desirable as well...but the hits go up exponentially compared to off brands.

IF, you like pizza

No "if". Still better spent on pizza. You can give the pizza to a pizza lover and use a phone to photo the very happy pizza lover.

If you can use it for something other than paper weigh then it's not paper weigh. It's definitely not a bargain as one can't expect to sell that lens for any more that what you paid for it.

Some of you are taking all the fun out of finding good junk, specifically strange suff in charity shops, hockshops, flea markets, and dumpsters.

Like others have alluded to, nowadays, it's hard to find a good restaurant meal for 15 bucks and even if you do, we all know where that ends up! If you find an odd lens and old rickety or rusty camera, at least to can write about on UHH and start a conversation. Most folks are not really interested in what you ate last night! That is, unless you develop food poisoning and have to explain that the the docs inthe ER! If you really overspend on some useless item, in a worst-case scenario, you'll have to explain that to your significant other!

Who knows? If you adapt some weired lens to your current body, you may get some limited usage and be pleasantly suprised-, that's unless the damn thing jams and gets stuck on the body and it's off the the repair shop!

Anyway, if you really want to enjoy a great PIZZA, don't bother with those frozen cardboard and fake cheese ones. Find a good old-fashioned pizzeria that uses fresh ingredients. I shot this and then ate it- YUMMY!

In New York City you can only get half a pizza pie for $15... and soon they will be baked in an electric oven!

I make pizza every weekend. 100% tradicional napolitan style, like "la mía nonna" did. I have 20+ years practice by now...

None of the depicted pizzas reach my level of yumminess

I shot the attached WHILE eating it. It was my first shot when I first received an old iphone, and I knew that the very first thing youre spozed to do with it is shoot your food ... so I did.

Yes its inverted. Did I mention its the first thing I shot with it ? Okay, yes, I did. And I discovered one cant use it left handed. Over these few years weve been together, weve really learned to hate each other.

True enough! Nobody can beat real family recipes. I tried to make stuff like my grandmother but I usually
fail. The problem was, I was a pain in the neccek and grandma would throw me out of the kitchen when she was cooking. Also, she never had to measure anything- a pinch of this and a handful of that! My hands are at least 4 times the size of Grandma's!

I shoot lots of food- commercially. Some of it looks much better than it tastes. As pizza goes, that one was pretty decent but no quite as good as the homemade ones I got to taste in Brooklyn as a kid.

Is the Neopolitan kind made on a thick square crust?

"Thick square" pizza is referred to in the USA as Sicilian style, yet all of the pizza places where I have eaten it are named after Napoli/Naples. Go figger.
