A few photos taken around The Liverpool to Leeds Canal which is a few minutes from my home.
It was a bright sunny day but in late November the sun never gets very high, so the light has a slightly golden hue.

Great photos, I especially like #4, #6 & #8.
Are the locks still in use?
The Leeds to Liverpool canal was started in 1773 in Leeds and was completed by 1816, The Johnsons Hillock section where the photos were taken was the final part to be opened for trade.
Yes the whole of the Leeds/Liverpool canal is still navigable although it is mainly used for leisure boats althogh many of these narrow boats are used as homes. There are 100's of marinas along the canal banks all over the UK where you can hire, buy or have one built.
In the attached photo you can see various narrow boats and in the centre you can see one under construction.
They are referred to as "narrow boats" because the have to fit in the lock so the usual width is only 7 feet but they can be 30-70 feet long. The 2 reds boats in the shot are narrow boats.

It was getting a bit heavy John so i thought i'd have a change and show my Saints rugby shirt off..
Hello Macro, I think canals are very photogenic, there's lots of colour with the boats etc, interesting locks , buildings and of course
canal side pubs. Whenever I want to test anything out, eg new camera, lens or just play around with settings etc, I have two places I go, one is Preston Docks and the other is where I went yesterday ie Top Lock near Chorley.
