I ordered a canvas print from FAA for the Members' Open Show at the Tubac Center of the Arts. Tubac has a weird mail system in that the address must include both the street address and the PO box number. FAA's order system refuses to accept PO Box as a "ship-to" address, or even part of the address. So I messaged them that the PO box had to be part of the address. They didn't do it.
Yesterday evening I got notice that the box was being returned to sender for "insufficient address." I e-mailed FAA early this morning, and I called the local PO. The PO was no help, although they were sorry and said they understood the dilemma. I was on the phone with FAA when I got an e-mail from them stating they would reprint the item and reship it (hopefully correctly this time!).
Heart attack averted! Thank you, FAA!

I don't understand why they don't accept PO boxes if they're going to ship USPS. I guess they have their reasons.

Maybe because there are so many private mail box "Stores"

No clue. But nearly everyone has a "ship to" address nowadays. But that's for UPS and Fed-X, not USPS.

Duhhh I didn't Think about that , And I understand it it would take too long for the driver to deliver to the stores they can't just drop and dash.

Shipping only to physical addresses supports follow-up actions required if there is a problem with payment after the fact. I can remember mail-order places who have said "No P. O. Boxes" for at least the past 50 or 60 years. I'm sure that the organization is using their software to enforce their policy.
The post office only looks at the city/state line and the one line above it when routing mail. If the recipient is using "mail boxes" to direct mail internally, they should be using a different term, like "Mail Stop" or "Mail Station."

Usual reason: They DONâT ship to P.O. Boxes. They use another carrier such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. â Those carriers cannot deliver to a Post Office box. They require a street address.

The interesting caveat is that they DID ship via USPS!
My delivery address for other than USPS is the Post office, with my Box number added to the street address (as though it were an apartment number or similar). They have an agreement with UPS and FED-X to accept shipments. I had to sign a statement that they may sign for my shipments. If the tracking number says it arrived on Tuesday, I have a notice in my box on Wednesday. I assume this is the same nationwide for people who have PO boxes.

Weird. I worked for a school photography company for 33 years. We would not ship FedEx or UPS unless we had a physical street address. And orders over a certain dollar amount had to be signed for by the addresseeâs intended recipient. Most orders were over that amount.

I know that part of the delivery problem with UPS and FED-X is that they no longer require a signature - UNLESS it is being sent to a company.

We required signatures for legal and safety reasons. Some of our customers were selling millions of dollarsâ worth of portraits to school parents.
If you have a *USPS* box, you can ship a âNo PO boxesâ this way:
(Name of the box holder)
Street address *of your post office* and box number listed as âunitâ. IE; 123 Elm St, Unit 456
City, state, zip
And probably not a bad idea to tell the box clerk at the PO
