In my post the other day about insect eggs, member, Mark Sturdevant identified the eggs I posted as Galls. He suggested they were willow-galls. I went back yesterday afternoon to take another look and to also cut into some of them looking for larvae. I took these additional photos and did cut across the tops of the galls. But all I found out of several cut into was they had the ball shape on top but the underside was nothing there. It was as if someone took a half circle/egg and placed it upon the leaf. It was hollow underneath with no evidence of anything being inside at least, yet.

Galls can be caused by things other than eggs. Nice set.

and now we know 😊
Thanks Bob, yes we do. I am a complete newbie on anything like galls so it is all new to me. At least I hope to remember these things when I see them again.

They are dead ringers for the willow galls. I will stick to that at least for now.
Cheers!

Thanks again Mark for your interesting and much needed, by me, information. My second time around I did take a look at the leaves and they did, of course, appear to be willow leaves.
