Folks, we've got a winner here! Dad, your work is outstanding and so glad that you joined UHH. You've answered the question of "what should I bring when I go to...(destination of your choice)?" This question is asked frequently at UHH. I brought a decent Nikon point and shoot when we went to Italy, and Dad, here, brought an R5. What a difference. I've got the feeling that his travel scrapbooks are much more entertaining than mine. If I ever go to Italy again, I'm going to consider taking my R6 II. Great stuff. The Vespa mirror, the first shot with the cell phone (very creative), the Pantheon... is the gelato vendor still in the alley near the Pantheon? I imagine MacDonald's must still be there. Great shots. Keep 'em coming.

Nice set, very nice. Italy rocks without facists. Loved the beach chairs except where's the topless lady basking all alone?

Thanks for the kind words! I missed my RF70-200 at times, but there’s only so much you can carry. I considered picking up an R6 to have two cameras with two lenses for “easy” swapping - I’m glad I didn’t. I got the 24-105 f/4 as part of the kit when I got the original R ($1,995) and sold the R for $1,600, keeping the lens. Great deal! We are going to France in September, so I plan to just carry the 24-105.

In terms of the Vespa shot, I love finding reflections to shoot, and motorcycle/mopeds are perfect because you can get some interesting, colorful reflections with interesting backgrounds behind the mirror.

I’m an attorney in DC, but have been taking pics since I was a teen (I had a B&W/Color darkroom in high school from 1977-1980). I don’t miss the chemicals, but I swear I can smell them by just thinking about them!

You won’t regret it - so glad not to have any more weight in my bag - I did miss my RF70-200 2.8, but it all worked out well.

I like the unique composition in several of these shots. I chuckled as I have a few similar images from my trips in Italy. Very nice set.
