Breaking the rules of the forum

I have been checking out several posts here today...as usual :-) I love this forum. Just have a bone to pick. Is it just me that is tired of people either not reading the rules and/or just plain think they don't have to comply! There are a select few who keep adding their pictures to another person's thread without asking permission and/or editing the picture without asking. Drives me a bit crazy. I feel like sending a nasty note when it happens, but don't want to do it on the original person's thread as that just defeats the purpose. There... I feel better now. Any thoughts?

hands up ...i have done this once or twice but in a reply to a question or to carry the topic on, i am sure people mean no harm and if the original poster does not want this perhaps a trafic light system can be used.

It can be annoying if you let it.
99% of the time I think it is just innocent earnest interest.
But if they do it to your posted photo, a kindly worded reminder sent in a PRIVATE MESSAGE (PM) would help remind them of proper protocol and may you feel a bit better.

But we all break rules from time to time (often unwittingly) and I'm always grateful for the tolerance of others.
I'd probably be dead by now otherwise.

Here's one. If you are unhappy with someone breaking the rules on YOUR thread send them a polite PM stating your concerns. 8-)

PS Ooops, sorry I just saw Festina's reply after I sent this to post. 8-)

Clicker, most here are just having fun. Some are trying to get help. Others are trying to help, and some are doing all three.
I'll tell you what stops the momentum of a thread dead in its tracks quicker than a head-on with a locomotive.....ALL THE COPS!!!
Let me count the ways. There are the spelling cops, those Harvard graduate, spelling bee champions that scrutinize every word. There are the cops that are the world travelers that can't properly give good advice if they don't know with which continent to attach the advice. There are the speak-easy cops with the big sensitive ears, PLEASE don't shout. The tread title cops that slam their heads against the wall and curl their toes up tight, when someone posts the title "HELP". Then there are the......., well you get my drift.
We are all big boys and girls here. There a 20,000 users with as many personalities, use some restraint.
COPS, let us POLICE our own posts. When a crime is in progress, I'm sure we all know who to call.
There....,I too feel better now!

Yes we all have our quirks. I will just have to be patient and get more sleep! Thanks for checking in! Much appreciated. :-)[quote=SharpShooter][

I understand the rules but I don't quite understand the consternation. I've posted a number of photos and, frankly, I don't mind at all if someone shows the results of their own post-processing. It only shows me that there are those out there who are much better, or worse, than I with such things. And I've learned a lot from others' versions of my original. I usually state in my original post that all are welcome to rip, tear and process to their heart's content any image of mine. It's not like they're stealing it, nor that I have to agree or abide by their versions.

I'm asking for serious comments here because I really don't understand all the hoopla. Maybe I'm missing something. :?:

You are missing the point that the forum has a set of rules which people should read and try to abide by. You may not care what people post on your thread, that's fine, but others seem to care. The simple resolve is to ask the OP of the thread if they mind whether you post a photo there. No hoopla, rather easy solution. 8-)

Ok, I can accept that! And that's pretty much what I was thinking all along: it's just a matter of personal preference and/or pride in what they may consider their "turf", and I certainly disagree with posts that tend to hijack the thread! And if it is made a rule, then it should be obeyed or don't post at all. I was just having a tough time understanding why so many take their reaction beyond what would be expected of a broken rule to the point of a personal affront.

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks again everyone. Sorry to have caused a stir. We all make mistakes now and then, but it was the hijacking that I was upset about. I see it so much especially when someone is strictly asking for a critique. I love C & C as it really has taught me a great deal! Thanks again everyone I think we can all relax again and enjoy this great forum! Cheers!
