So I get to the point of updating the firmware, when I get message that says (see attached photo)
So how do achieve additional space to complete update?
Thanks for any help.

Firmware is normally a very tight fit in the memory set aside for it. For this reason, installing new firmware either requires that the old firmware be deleted before the new is installed or that the new firmware be written directly on top of the old. That is why installation software is so specific and must be followed so carefully...you have to initiate the process by issuing a command for the update software to do a thing that you would never wish to happen otherwise.
So...the first step is to review the procedure and make certain that you are following it exactly. Make sure that you are not skipping any steps, taking any shortcuts, or making any assumptions about what you are being told to do. If this lens is on the camera that you are struggling with an update, it is possible that you are going to have to successfully do that update before you can update your lens (if the lens updates on your camera).
Of course, don't sell short the notion of contacting Viltrox if you continue to have trouble.
Thank you Larry, you make some great points.

Viltrox? A third party lens company I never heard of. Firmware updates might go smoother on your camera manufacturer's lenses. Are you sure that is the BIN file and not the unzipped file with the instructions as well. Firmware files themselves should be tiny like Firmware and BIOS files to a computer. 2 to 10 MB would be huge for a simple BIN file. You understood about placing the file in the root directory of your SD card. Good luck.
