Lake Isabella is located about 40 miles NE of Bakersfield, CA at the southern end of the Sequoia National Forest. For the past several years, the Corps of Engineers drained Lake Isabella to make repairs and modifications to the dams. After completing the dam repairs, water conduits were closed allowing the lake to begin refilling. With the above normal snowpack last winter, the lake filled much faster than expected. Here's a morning image of the refilled lake.

Beautiful. Lake Isabella is in my daughter's geographical backyard. I guess its time for a roadtrip there. Thanks for posting.

That sunlight on the side of the mountain makes this a real eye catcher 🌞👀🌞👀🌞

That view looks strangely familiar, Mike.

When we lived in California, some 17+ years ago, we took a "shortcut" that sent us around Lake Isabella. The down side was that we were in a motorhome that was tall enough to suffer damage from rocks hanging over the road.

We quite literally spent way too much time taking our half "down the middle". I know that my wife would not agree as she was extremely uncomfortable until the overhanging rocks were behind us, but I thank you for the mini trip down memory lane.

I'm thinking the same thing, time for another trip out there. I have a sister that lives in Wofford Heights.

If you ever try that again, come into the lake from the east side, taking the 178. You bypass all the overhangs.

Thanks but the motorhome is long gone. It was replaced by a fifth wheel which may go up for sale soon. My wife is getting tired of feeding the 7.3l turbo diesel in my truck.

Good info for anyone else in that position though.

Ironically, maps do not often show such things. lol

My daughter lives in Tehachapi. Its also an opportunity to drive over and capture some photos of the famous "Train Loop".
