The Northeast Ohio British Car Council sponsors a British Car Day each year in Hudson, Ohio. The show features a lot of Austin Healeys, MGs, Triumphs and Jaguars because these were the first cars built that were intended for sale in the US after WWII. The show also includes a lot of other British cars like Lotus, Bentley, Land Rover and some makes I never heard of like Jensens and TVRs.
As an aside, I’d like to provide some of my photographic insights. Reuss’s Insight #17. If you take pictures of fireworks, you turn your autofocus off and set your focus manually around infinity that way, everything from a hundred ft to infinity will be in focus because of depth of field. When the show is over you quickly pack up your camera and head for your car so you don’t get caught in long lines of traffic. And four days later, if you take pictures at a car show and don’t remember that you turned off your autofocus, and take pictures of the cars anyway, you may be disappointed. Someone who will remain nameless did just that and again was saved by depth of field because it was a sunny day and he set a high f-stop with a low ISO and the pictures came out in reasonable focus. Just sayin’ for a friend.

Great photos. A 1960 Bugeye Sprite was my first car, shared with my twin brother. It was a great car EXCEPT for when it was raining. Driving through a puddle of water would cause water to splash on the distributor which meant the car would just stop running. It took drying the distributor off before we could start moving again. Oh the fun we had.

I appreciate your comments Dennis. The reason I started out with a 1958 Austin Healey 100-6 was that was my first car that I bought myself after college. One of the dark things shared by most vintage British cars was Lucas Electronics which I see you had experience with. Most owners have their favorite Lucas horror story. I know I have mine, several of them in fact.

Thanks for the input. It was definitely set up for racing. Had a number on the left side door. It also had the steering wheel on the left side which is odd for a British car. Must have been made for US market.

It's a neat looking car, reminiscent of the Datsun 240Z series. Once you begin modifying these guys with different engines, the value goes down. One of the cars at the show was an Austin Healey with an added 5-speed transmission instead of the AH 4-speed with electric overdrive. It lowered the value of the car substantially. Didn't show it for that reason. It's the yellow and black one behind the AH I did show.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I too live in N.E. Ohio. There used to be a Anglophile Society.
They had events in Shaker Heights. Was there a Griffith auto at the Hudson show? That was
a two nation hybrid. The body was on a monocoque frame. It was shipped to New Jersey where
a Ford 289 cubic inch V8 was installed. There was many years ago a dealer in Painesville who for a
brief period sold them along with Saabs. The customer would sit in the car and would have the
seat adjusted to his legs length and the seat would be welded to the floor. Griffiths were popular
in Gymkhana races because the had a short turning radius. Nice shots by the way

Beautiful cars and pix thereof in spite of AF OFF...LOL. But, if they're really British cars, why are the steering wheels all on the wrong side of the vehicles?
