I will be in Dayton Ohio next week attending the Dayton Air Show. I checked the list of prohibited items and there is no mention of tripods or monopods. Have others gone to these shows and know whether they are allowed?

Go on their website, you can purchase a photography pass. Get media parking and a spot setup for pictures. Go to Dayton air show.com, click on buy tickets now - scroll down to Photo Tour/ Photo Pit - $100 per day or $150 both days - this is the upgraded package, media parking and there is a spot on the flight line setup for photography. Full info on site. As far as I know, no issues with tripods.

Some do allow tripods and monopods, and some do not. If it doesn't say they are prohibited, then most likely you can bring them. My experience after attending many different air shows is that I need to hand hold in order to follow the aircraft. They are so fast that a tripod or monopod just gets in the way.

Ditto as to handholding when shooting aircraft in flight.

I haven't been there for years but although tripods were allowed I saw very few. To walk the planes, maneuver in & out of good spots on the fence, etc my believe there are times & places for tripods and times & places not for them. This is a NOT. Maybe a monopod, especially if you physically need it for stability.

From their site...
THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS APPLY:
No Coolers (a "cooler" is anything that was designed to insulate)
No Loose Ice
No Cans or glass
No Alcohol
No Pets
No Weapons
No Firearms
No Tents or awnings
No Cooking Equipment
No Segways
No Hoverboards
No Skateboards
No Drones

I'm going both days. Have Pavillion tickets for my brother and myself on Saturday and the Photo Tour/Photo Pit pass on Sunday.

If you have the time you should also check out the airplanes at Wright Patterson AFB. Almost everything that the AirFoce flew is there.
