I will be in Dayton, Ohio next week for a few days and am interested in photographing birds in the area. Any suggestions?

We have a number of pairs of nesting eagles in the area. I am most familiar with "Orv" and "Willa", whose nest is literally within the Carillon Park right above the Wright Brothers Building. There are 3 Juveniles still hanging with them and just now learning to fish. A prime spot for photographers is outside the park on the boulevard by the river.

Your timing is perfect for some great photo opportunities.

In addition to the Air Show you might want to visit the Air Force Museum...incredible spot.

Enjoy yourself in Dayton!

Englewood Metro Park not far from the airport. West National Road, Dayton. Right across from the entrance is Aullwood Audubon center and Gardens. Aullwood Rd. They are right next to one another and great birding.

Thanks for the Carillion Park note. I have been there a few times to visit the exhibits on Dayton's aviation and industrial heritage.

I always set aside 4-6 hours to visit the Air Force Museum. I think this time I will concentrate on the early jets (1945-1955?). I love the smooth curves that reflect the WW2 heritage of design combined with jet engines.

Good for you. When unfamiliar with an area I always like to look at multiple sources. Usually the overlaps are the best choices.
