This tree becomes covered with tiny flowers, but the flowers don't last long. And while they are there, bees come from far and wide to collect that pollin.
Olympus EM1ii with 16mm extension ring and the 40-150mm lens, the cheap plastic one.
When used this way, you don't focus the camera with the focus ring. Instead, you focus by zooming. With this setup, I was able to capture these bees from around 4 feet away. The bee in image #1 is just about loaded up with pollin and will taking the trip back to the hive.
Later this year, the trees will produce large clumps of little purple berries. But they must not taste too good as the birds won't touch them until everything else has been eaten and they have no other options. And then they carpet bomb everything in sight!
