Christmas Tree Shops - R. I. P.
I was sorry to hear that all seventy Christmas Tree Shops will be closing. When we used to go to Cape Cod on a regular basis, my wife always made sure we got to several of them. They offered a huge selection of things we didn't see anywhere else, and their prices were very good. I'll occasionally pick something up in the house and see their sticker on the bottom. We once made the long drive from NY to the Cape to buy two large bookcases that they had on sale. They both fit right into the back of our Ford Expedition.
We bought a lot of “stuff” from these stores over the years. What we’ll miss most are the annual wall calendars with pencil drawn sketches of Cape scenes.
We used to go to that same Shop at the Sagamore bridge when we visited my friend on the Cape. Has any reason been given for their demise? Internet competition? Poor management? They never had a web site to allow on line purchasing. Or did they?

I haven't heard why they are closing. My son was at a mall an hour away yesterday, and the Christmas Tree Shop was crowded.
We went the other day.
Sign's all over the store advertised up to 50% off!
We walked the aisles and nothing was discounted more than 10%

I guess that’s what “up to” means😂

Probably crowded BECAUSE it’s closing?
We have two on Long Island: one in Deer Park and one in Riverhead. We went to the Deer Park store on Saturday to pick through the remains. No visit to Greenport was complete without a stop at the Riverhead store on the way home. They will be missed.

I think we’ve been to the one on Cape Cod. It’s in Falmouth (?). My Step son went to B.U.M.P. (Boston University Marine Program) in Woods Hole. That was our 1st encounter with a Christmas Tree Shop.
Every time we went to see him, we made sure to stop there.
Then we found one in Deer Park Long Island.
My wife seems to think that the Falmouth store might stay open.
We lived on the Cape when the first one opened two towns over, in Yarmouth (YAH-muth for you from off-Cape). At that time it was pretty much a 'remainders' store - similar to what Ocean State Job Lot is now. Since then, CT obviously grew and grew and even started their own import (usually China) business to support themselves, and had some pretty good products for the price.
Really hate to see them go. We'll have to find a new "closet-stuffer" store!
