In the Zodiak. Note the sunburns. The sky was clear as glass, and the fairly low sun shone straight into our faces, giving us that ruddy "glow." Note also, my wife's huge smile. She's a true adventurer and loves this kind of stuff.
Look how easily they go through and over all that ice.
Penguins are great swimmers. Every time they leap out of the water they take a breath, but if you look closely, it seems as if they're saying "wheeee."
A relatively small iceberg. The penguins are about the size of young children, so that gives you some idea of the berg's size.
Look at the Zodiak in front of this one. And remember, you're only seeing about 12% of it.
In the next photo you'll see how the Zodiak compares to the iceberg when it gets right up to it.
Let's face it. We humans can seem to be pretty insignificant.
Penguins can be insignificant as well.

Unforgettable, magnificent shots 💙💙🤍💙💙
The scenery is beyond impressive. I'm not sure I want to deal with cold that extreme. My hat's off to you and your wife. You two do get out there and get after it.

We only have one life, Tom. When someone tells me he always wanted to do "X," whatever that is, and hopes to do it SOME DAY, I roll my eyes internally. Long before we knew each other, my wife and I both wanted to travel. And magic! We found each other, and off we went ... right our of the gate ... having absolutely no money ... the first summer after we got married. And we never stopped ... so far. Still much more to see ... for the first time, or again.

Absolutely pristine Antarctica is one of the most mind blowing places we ever visited.
The boat company gave us those coats, and loaned us the boots. Of course, that was really included in the very expensive price for the trip. But what's money for??
That's how my wife and I felt every day that we were there.
