I really like the ability to control the f stop

My IPhone 14 Pro allows me to control the f stop, thereby allowing me control of the depth of field. Unfortunately there are limitations in that I have to be in portrait mode, and between 18” and 8’ from my subject. The limitations are offset by the ability to choose an f stop after the photo has been taken. I’m hoping that this feature will become available in photo mode (without distance limitations) in future models.
Incidentally, I’m really enjoying this Smartphone Section. Thanks all for your posts.

Am I correct in assuming, that with the tiny sensors and lenses in smartphones, that the "depth of field" effects are computational?

It is my understanding that all smartphones use computational algorithms to manipulate and improve the image data. This approach allows for a range of advanced features, such as high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, depth-of-field control, and image stabilization.

Thanks. That's the way my new S23 seems to work.
