A North Carolina Eagle munching on a fresh catch yesterday. I had seen this eagle flying up the lake the previous morning while having a really early morning coffee on my daughter's dock at her lake house in NC...and of course no camera. Well, I thought maybe he was a regular and went out the next morning and sho-nuff, there he was on the same flight path about 0615.

Early morning, lots of trees and not much sun, just the dawn AND didn't get any good photos of him flying by. Dang, just drank my coffee and headed back to the house and low and behold, back in this dark cove I saw the eagle on a log, having breakfast, probably 100 yds away. He had obviously caught a fish and took back to the cove for a peace and quiet breakfast. It was around 0715 quite dark in the cove and I watched it for about 20 minutes. The eagle finished breakfast, flew to her back yard and cleaned his beak on the grass then flew back to a tree on the other side of the cove about 200 yds away. I know the eagle spotted me hiding behind the outdoor bar on her boat dock because it kept looking my way after every bite. A mighty fine specimen of this NC eagle....best in download and Cheers all...

Olympus 100-400, slow shutter with low light in that densely tree covered cove, I was leaning against the side of the boat house trying hold steady, which for me these days, can be trying 😊 even with the Oly stabilization system…Cheers
