The Olympus 12-100mm f4 is great for astro photography. Here is one such example. Made from a stack of 6 sec images at ISO 3200 and taken at 100mm FL. I was using a cheap tracker.

And the SNR is good enough for enjoyment.

Nolan Ryan must still be pitching someplace Excellent catch ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

No doubt. I just don’t get along with these touch screens. In fact much bad language was expended trying to get it right (almost). Should have the first one. Thanks!
I know the feeling!

Perfect OM-D development...astrophotography linkage of IS...and has almost no astro lenses to take advantage.

Re-inventing a star tracker...

I suspect this is easier said than done. If you use both IBIS alongside OIS you are designing a servo with two separate loops while asking it to hold steady for a significant longer time than a “normal” exposure. That may be why they selected only one lens. The dynamics of the OIS system may vary widely between lenses. It not likely that would work well just turning on both. I wouldn’t think lenses designed for a mirrorless system would include OIS for this reason.

I doubt anything will be done about it. It's an old patent from Pentax that has run out.

It could be a cheap profit maker if anyone wants the patent later on...I doubt it.

The thinkers and engineers, that came from Olympus, are at it again at OMDS. All our astrophotography UHHers may want to think about OM cameras and lenses.

Good for Olympus.
Sounds like innovation is still alive and well there.
Tracking seems like a good idea but would the sensor know which direction to track.
Be interesting to see the implementation and high tech programming for this.
WOW!
